Like last year West Sussex GC (WSGC) decided to complete course maintenance the week before we were due to have our first match against the Hazards. However, unlike last year we weren’t on seven temporary greens only sandy dressed greens which actually weren’t too bad as it turned out. Also the weather was kind on us which made the day more enjoyable.
Pulling a team together wasn’t too stressful this year and I thank my team for no last minute surprises! However, when I received the Hazards team list I knew we were in for a hard match with Hazards cumulative handicap total of 137 versus 40XL’s cumulative total of 160.
We played 36 holes foursomes in glorious weather with a welcome sustenance break at midday to enjoy WSGC hospitality. As I feared the match was tough and in the end 40XL lost 9-3 to the Hazards.
Thanks again to WSGC for allowing us to host this match and for their very friendly welcome, long may it continue.
