The match against The Seniors GS this year once again proved to be one of the most enjoyable fixtures of the season. Both sides played and socialised in the finest of spirits and no controversial stumpings were reported. Denham GC, in mid-summer, was in excellent nick and the luncheon provided remains one of the best on the circuit. Special mention must be made of Peter Crowcroft, an XLGS stalwart, who was The Seniors match manager on this occasion. Together with Rob Pike, he gave your Captain, Steve Barton, and myself a tough challenge in the morning, ending in an honourable half on the 18th. More importantly perhaps, Peter’s impeccable administration ensured seamless enjoyment throughout the day, even if the afternoon was a tad damp. Final score: XLGS 7.5 Seniors 3.5.
