This long standing and very popular fixture against a society even older than our own was, as always, played in tremendous spirit. As the only Forty Club fixture played at the prestigious Swinley Forest, it is not surprising that we were again oversubscribed.
Those lucky enough to play had a wonderful day in perfect weather on a course in prime condition. After a very successful morning the XL team went into lunch with a well deserved lead. However the excellent Swinley lunch clearly spurred the NAGS on, as for the first time in my tenure as match manager, they managed a clean sweep in the afternoon session. I like to convince myself that results are not everything, particularly as friendships made in this fixture are longstanding and long lasting. However applicants beware, we will be looking to regain our usual bragging rights next year!
Thanks to all who played.
Rob Pike, Match Manager
