The XL Club enjoyed a very good 18-hole foursomes match against Tandridge GC (Surrey) on Saturday 23rd April. The match consisted of six foursomes matches on a course that was in excellent condition. With adjacent land having recently been purchased, with appropriate cropping, we were afforded some magnificent views over the surrounding countryside.
Alas, Tandridge managed to be victorious 4-2, not helped by Steve Barton and myself being 4 up with 4 to play and the home pair playing those last closing holes very well to secure a half.
Excellent effort from David Lancaster and Jeremy Stanyard to secure our one win of the day and to Bharat Amin and Stephen Chappell for gaining the other half point.
The Tandridge team were very good hosts. We all enjoyed the excellent lunch, with the famous Tandridge Pudding being a real highlight.
A few of the XL team took advantage of the excellent weather to venture out after lunch for nine holes and we are very much looking forward to the next XL Tandridge outing on Saturday 22nd April, 2023.
