We were greeted by the Stage organisers who organise the meeting.
The weather was a little chilly to start with but the sun came out and it turned out to be a pleasant day the course was in excellent condition we then had lunch in the cube room.
Now to the result, this may take some time to explain so please bear with me, as the Taverners were a team of seven players and I had already given them two of my reserves which I will talk about later.
When it came to decide how to work out the winners we were asked to vote on two ways to calculate the winners: 1) drop the lowest score form the stage and XL teams or 2) take the aggregate scores for each team and divide by the number of players in that team, the vote went for the second option.
Alas the result from the first option was XL first, Stage second, and Taverners last, yet the result from the second option was Taverners first and the XL and stage equal second.
Now I come to the two XL players who played for the Taverners, namely Steve Barton and Bobby Lowe, and one would have thought they would throw their scores but no! between them they scored 72 points!
