Match Report vs Frilford Heath on June 28th 2024

The weather gods favoured us this year with a beautiful warm and sunny day, in contrast to the rain of last year and the heatwave of the year before.

The traffic gods were less generous, with the M40 closed due to a major accident and the M4 and A34 overloaded as a consequence.

The golfing gods were also less than generous to XLGS, with home advantage (and lots of shots given) enough to give Frilford Heath the upper hand. Martin Lawrence and Mike J-H managed to salvage a point in the last match and save the MM’s blushes: despite giving each of their opponents over 30 years, experience told.

Frilford Heath retained the Tabasco Cup with a score of 5-1.

Despite the result, this was a very friendly occasion, on a course (Red) in excellent condition in anticipation of the Senior Club Championships the following day.
