Our annual match against Hayling Island Golf Club took place on Tuesday 21st May. Following last year’s cancellation due to 50+ mph winds, we were blessed with clement weather. The course was in fine condition with punishing rough to catch any wayward drives.
We fielded a team of fourteen, a promising blend of youth and experience which included four newish members who had not played previously in this fixture. However, the Hayling Team were strong, they brought their A game and triumphed 6.5 to 0.5.
David Lancaster’s grin was even wider than usual over a delicious meal following the golf. The hospitality of the Hayling Team was excellent and on behalf of the XL Club I would like to thank the Hayling GC Captain Mike McCabe and all his team for their warm welcome and a thoroughly enjoyable day.
