It’s hard to believe my term of Captaincy ended with the AGM at the New Zealand Golf Club following the Autumn Meeting. Yet another phenomenal day’s golf with 54 of us teeing up including 8 guests! – one big thank you to Pete Crowcroft for organising. Perfect weather and perfect company what a great day to round things off.
Looking back I have played in some 24 matches with the Society in the past year, including two tours – Scotland and Kent – along with the four meetings: Christmas, Spring, West Country and now Autumn.
What an amazing year!
Come rain or shine I have enjoyed them all, despite being drenched at Denham with the Seniors and getting even wetter at Royal Ashdown with the Lucifers not to mention getting sunburnt twice at Royal St Georges with the Farmers Club one week and the MCC Quadrangular the next. So many memories I will take away and how fortunate I have been to meet and enjoy the company of so many of you.
I would like to thank the Committee and Officers of the Club for all their support and hard work to ensure the Society continues to thrive and prosper. Thanks also to our Match and Meeting Managers who form the backbone of the organisation and without which we could not function. There is always a need to plan for the future so if any of you are keen to help don’t hesitate to let us know.
Finally may I wish our new Captain, Chris Greet, all the success with his golf and that he enjoys his year as much as I have.
Cheers
Steve Barton
