On a sweltering semi tropical day at the ever welcoming New Zealand course we had a 14 aside match with two of our Members transferring to the Senior Service to ensure we kept the numbers up on this popular fixture.
Two rounds of foursomes was the order of the day and before we sat to a sumptuous lunch the score was level. There were very few signs of holding back from both sides but the afternoon tee times were met. With rather more visits to the ever difficult heather the golf was perhaps not quite to the morning standard. Despite years of training with rum rations (I know they stopped in 1970!!) the RN could not handle the hardened lunchers of the Forty Club who managed to get their noses in front for a 8 – 6 victory.
A great course, wonderful lunch, warm welcome good company and very good value.
